Flower Remedies

Emotional support for you and your family

Flower Remedies

These sweet-looking remedies in their tiny bottles are a deceptively powerful system of emotional healing and support. I am so impressed by their gentle efficacy and love working with them. One of the many beauties of flower remedies is, being vibrational in action, they are totally safe with GP-prescribed medications.

I use all of Dr Bach’s remedies developed in the 1920-30s, some Findhorn remedies and also make some of my own from flowers in my garden.

Gentle enough for children

Flower remedies are superb for children who respond so quickly to their effects. I have seen time and again a turbulent toddler or screeching 6-year-old find their centre and peace again.

The remedies are minimally flavoured with a small amount of brandy* as preservative. A few drops under the tongue or added to the day’s drinking water mean that even the pickiest of children is unlikely to resist them.

These remedies are not intended to medicate normal behaviours but provide support during tricky developmental phases or changing life situations. Your child might be changing schools or the family is dividing through divorce. Whatever the life change, the flower remedies are a great way to assist your whole family’s transition.

Your appointment with me

Working with the Flower Remedies is quite like a talking therapy session. You tell me about the issues you wish to address and rather than finding your way into a solution over multiple sessions, I will ask you questions to find the nitty gritty of the underlying feelings.

For example, you might find yourself in situations where you are repeatedly feeling ‘put-upon’ by others. This situation doesn’t work for you, but it keeps cropping up and you haven’t found a way to change it. In our work together, we will find out about the other feelings this situation stirs up and what the feelings were at the starting point of this pattern. It may have its roots in eg feeling obliged to please everyone as a child and fear of being unsafe or rejected if you don’t.

The combination of the surface feelings and those beneath the surface are the basis of my flower remedy prescription for you.

I am a skilled practitioner who has a keen combination of experience and empathic intuition to gently guide us into the spaces which need support and healing.

Family appointment - £180

Remedies for the whole family! Maybe you would like remedies for you and your children? I love to work with all the family as, addressing the concern we feel as parents for our offpsring is as key to finding family calm again as working with the emotions of the children. Perhaps your child is picking up on your stress/anxiety/distress about the situation and their behaviour is connected to you? That doesn’t mean it’s your fault but when we address everyone’s emotional balance, we see wonderful outcomes for everyone.

It is great for children to see that their parents choose to support themselves and their wellbeing by ‘taking their own medicine’! When you all do it, you can all enjoy the process together and begin to re-kindle connections and joy together once more.

In order to treat someone, I need to have met them and spoken to them. I cannot prescribe remedies for someone in absentia no matter how much they have told you about their feelings.

“When I gave the flower remedy drops to my son, he did a happy dance saying

“these are my joy drops"!

And it’s true, he’s been a different child since we started them. It’s been wonderful to see him coming out of his shell.”

— MM, Chipperfield - mum to R, age 6

*NOTE - Bach and other Flower Remedies are not suitable for those who cannot tolerate alcohol. Both stock bottles and prescription bottles include brandy as a preservative. If you don’t wish to taste the alcohol, the remedies can be applied to the body or put in large amounts of water which significantly dilutes it. This still may not be suitable in cases of intolerance or addiction.

Cyanotype imagery by Jon Dixon

This cyanotype is of Chicory, one of the remedies in the Bach Flower Remedy range. Chicory is said by Dr Bach to be indicated when we feel “self-pity, self-love, possessive, demanding, hurt and tearful” and redress the balance to “love and care that gives freely to others”
